Well folks, this will be my first blog.
Having nearly missed Autumn in Southern Ontario, the land of towering Oaks and oceans of Maple, I am ready to get out and spend a couple nights in the crisp Autumn air.
I was away for work on the other side of Canada for two weeks, and was fearful that I would miss the yellow's, red's and golden brown's of the season. I made it back yesterday morning after flying the red eye, which was not fun at all I might add.
My plan was to take my dog Scout and head for the woods in a few days, after spending some much needed time with my Wife and three year old Daughter.
Unfortunately, I came home to find a lump on Scout's back. The lump had been there before I left, but since I had been gone, the lump grew about four times in size. I had to take him to the vet, he removed it and stapled him up, he s in no position to go to the woods with me, he has to take it easy for a couple weeks.
This means I will be going solo to the woods. I think I will use the opportunity to hunt a squirrel.
I am thirty years old and have never owned a gun, nor hunted before, I am well versed in Bushcraft and Survival, and have been practicing for well over 10 years, but hunting, while I would have loved to, has been something I have never been exposed to. I never had a father growing up, and living in Southern Ontario it is just not that popular.
I will be purchasing my first firearm in the next few days and will most likely be buying a .22
My plan is to go to the woods early in the morning with minimal gear, and my rifle, and spend the night.
So stick with me on this, my first blog, I promise to have great content including HD pictures, trip reports, gear talk, bushcraft and survival techniques.
